ملخص: قلما تم التطرق إلى دراسة مستقبل وخيارات السياسة الأمريكية في العراق، وإن حدث فإنه في الأغلب يقتصر عموماً على مناقشة أحد أمرين، هما: تحديد ما إذا كان ينبغي “الإبقاء على النهج الحالي” تُجاه العراق، أو النظر في “الخروج الفوري” منه، وذلك من دون إدراك كامل لأبعاد ومدلولات هذين الخيارين الخطيرين. غير أن النجاح النسبـي لانتخابات الثلاثين من يناير 2005 خفف من حجم وحدّة موجة الانتقادات الموجهة للولايات المتحدة، مما يعطيها فرصة لإعادة تقييم سياساتها الخاصة بالعراق بحكمة وتروٍ. وأمام الإدارة الأمريكية في الوقت الراهن خمسة خيارات لمعالجة مأزقها في العراق، لكن هذه الخيارات تنطوي في مجملها على مجازفات ومخاطر عديدة.

هذه الخيارات الخمسة هي ما تناقشه هذه الدراسة.
